Answers to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Attire: Attire for this pageant is CASUAL WEAR! This can be custom made or off the rack! (NO midriffs showing)
Hair and Makeup: We are NOT a glitz pageant but do allow age appropriate makeup. Flippers and Wiglets are not allowed. Please come completely dressed and ready to go on stage. There will be a bathroom available for minor touch ups but please arrive at the church completely ready in your pageant attire with hair and makeup finished!
Competition Details: Contestants will do a walk of choice to upbeat music. We provide the music so you do not need to bring a CD. Model like you are in a fashion show! :)
Contestants in the Baby Miss and Tiny Miss Division must have an adult on stage with them at all times.
Check In: Check in begins at 1:00pm and ends at 1:45 pm.
DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY TO CHECK IN.
Contestants will not be allowed to check in after 1:45 pm so be sure you are on time!
WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR LATE CONTESTANTS!
Judging: Contestants will be judged on Overall Appearance, Stage Presence and Personality.
We will award 8 AGE Divisional Queens and the following 4 Additional Queens. Age Divisional Queens are based on your scores from the judges the following titles please read how they are determined. All Queens will advance to the State Pageant with their entry fee paid.
Queen of Hearts title: All of our pageants are "Pageants with a Purpose" and we love to teach our girls the importance of giving back to the community. Each contestant is required to bring in a minimum of 10 nonperishable food items. The one contestant that brings in the most nonperishable food items will be awarded our Queen of Hearts title. If you are bringing in more than the required 10 you must have the food counted prior to turning it in. All food must be in boxes or REUSABLE shopping bags labeled with the contestants name and division. The contestant who turns in the most food with the proper labeling will receive a rhinestone crown, monogrammed sash and entry fee paid to the 2014 Mississippi's Miss Heart of the USA Pageant. All of the food will be donated "tba".
Queen of Hearts will get this beautiful ROUND CROWN!!
Spokes Model: Our "Spokes Model" title is awarded to the contestant who helps promote the 2013 Pearl River County's Miss Heart of the USA Pageant. Winner will receive a rhinestone crown, monogrammed sash, rhinestone pin and entry fee paid to the 2014 Mississippi's Miss Heart of the USA Pageant.
10 POINTS — for each completed “On-Line Posting Sheet” you turn in! (20 Posts per sheet)—Must be complete—with URLs. See Special Rules Regarding Posting
Viewers Choice: Our Viewers Choice title is voted on by the audience. Each vote is $1.00 and you can vote as many times as you'd like. The contestant with the most votes WINS! You can start to collect votes now from friends and family that may not be able to attend the pageant. Winner will receive a rhinestone crown, monogrammed sash, rhinestone pin and entry fee paid to the 2014 Mississippi's Miss Heart of the USA Pageant.
30 POINTS — for each completed “Poster Placement” sheet you turn in—Must be complete—with names of businesses and signature of owner, manager, etc.
50 POINTS — for each contestant who you refer who registers and competes in this MHoftheUSA Preliminary!
Special Guidelines and Rules regarding our 2014 Spokes Model Program—Internet Posting
**You Must use the official “Post” for the pageant you are posting for (you can obtain the official post for the Director of the Pageant!)
**You Must post to websites, blogs, Craigslist, Voy Boards (see special rules), face book pages (see special rules), etc. that are pageant related or community service related (On Line News Organization’s sites and Community and Event Calendars are also encouraged!)....
**The Post must benefit the pageant .....in other words you must find pages that people in the area that the pageant is being held will see! You cannot count a post for an Orlando pageant that is posted on a Michigan page......a 75 mile radius of the pageant is a good rule!
**VOY BOARDS SPECIAL RULES: Voy Boards are a great place to advertise pageants.....however, you have to be careful! No “Bash” boards or boards that do not fit the Miss Heart of the USA’s wholesome image will be allowed! **You may post to the same Voy Board every three days .....no more often than this!
**FACEBOOK POSTING SPECIAL RULES:
*If you are posting on a group and you scroll down and a Miss Heart of the USA post is still visible. DO NOT POST! It is never our goal to SPAM a board.
*DO NOT post pageant information on business pages like boutiques, salons, etc. We do not want our girls spamming business pages because we don’t like it when businesses spam our pages.
POOR SPORTSMANSHIP! It is considered “poor sportsmanship” to post on top of another contestant or Queen’s posts. If someone else has already posted our post to that site .....move on.....We realize that it will happen occasionally by accident...
....but someone who consistently posts on top of another Queen will be disqualified from our Spokes Model Program!
Miss Photogenic: Photos can be of any size and do not have to be professionally done. This can be a head shot or full body shot. You can include up to 5 photos at $10.00 per photo. The photo with the highest score will be used towards your total photogenic score. We will award ONE overall photogenic winner. This is an optional event to enter you must pay $10 per photo that you wish to enter. You can pay and enter this the day of the pageant. She will receive a rhinestone crown, monogrammed sash, rhinestone pin and entry fee paid to the 2014 Mississippi's Miss Heart of the USA Pageant.
*YOU MUST FIRST ENTER YOUR DIVISION BEFORE YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE FOR THE PHOTOGENIC TITLE*
We will also award a first and second runner up, and princesses in each division. Runners up will receive a medal and gift certificate to be used toward State Pageant entry fees.
Each person entering the BALLROOM (except for the contestant) is required to purchase an armband. These armbands are $10.00 each
*You must register based on your age as of January 1st, 2014.
